UK Mayhem – Is it also True Here

Friday Night is upon us and Saturday night will be here in 24 hours.

Two nights sadly well-known for revelry and mayhem in Auckland City and the suburbs – thanks to largely in-part, liberal alcohol laws and the culture associated with it.

This article from City Journal is aptly named Revelry and Mayhem (in the UK) is short and sweet on the mayhem caused from our piss-weak alcohol regulation.

You can read the article yourself but it has a striking resemblance to here in Auckland (and the rest of New Zealand) as well.

Alcohol-related harm and death costs the nation socially and physically over $1 billion yet our current attempt at alcohol is rather and ironically more piss weak than Light Ice Beer.

So here comes another drunken and mayhem Weekend – and I do feel sorry for our emergency service workers out there

Side Note: Alcohol like tobacco is considered a demerit good economics wise – consumer sovereignty does not exist – meaning the state can pass whatever draconian laws it likes. If you are not sure on consumer sovereignty then read up on it by hitting the relevant hyper-links.
