When Will it End

Sloshed on Ratepayers Cash?

The wonders of the Internet and social media, get caught doing something and it pops up rather fast (and won’t go away).

TROUGHING IT UP ON THE LARGE

by Whaleoil on July 18, 2012

Were Cr Alf Filipaina and Franklin Local Board chair Andy Baker of one mind at the LGA conference in Queenstown over a proposal to spend $10 million of ratepayer’s money on the V8′s at Pukekohe? Andy Baker is part of the little subcommittee that will determine whether the V8s should go to Pukekohe.

Here is a nice picture of them singing up a storm at the ratepayer funded trough-fest in Queenstown. Apparently they were quite shit-faced, enjoying copious quantities of ratepayer funders wine.

If you want to see the pictures then head on over to the site and have a look. Needless to say this was the comment that came to mind (my own actually):

Cute but FAIL: Now that is a real bottle of fail there and not doing the delegation any favours what so ever.
Least Whale knows where some of that $93,000 of our money went, apparently getting our Civic Leaders sloshed?
Note, if you are going to get sloshed, do it with your own money, not mine :|

I will stand corrected when the Local Government Official Information and Meeting Act request show that the particular delegates from Auckland pictured used their own money to get sloshed – not my (the ratepayer) money.

And from a commenter over at Whale Oil:

Funny just yesterday I was with a number of senior managers from differing organisations and AKL council came up…the mood in the room changed and I had visions of a lynch mob so palpable was their anger and frustration.

I just could imagine that

[Quick note: I am still assembling my "Educational Tour" Package in the USA to send five members from Auckland Council on, once I have built the list I shall post it. Not to worry Councillor Quax, all will be revealed soon]

So

WHEN WILL IT ALL END?!

  1. Just a quick mention while I remember:
I do distinctly remembering a certain Minister of Housing having to resign (then return to do his good work) over a bottle of wine on the Office credit card. Maybe these particular individuals should resign?

I mean come on, it is certainly a bad look and image in these fiscally tough times…
