Projects on The Homefront
Busy Pottering Around Home
Both Rebekka and I have somewhat of a green thumb around the home. Since purchasing our first home in here in Papakura at the beginning of this year, both Bekka and I are slowly doing up the house and garden.
In the gallery below is two sets of pictures. In the first three see if you can spot my resident Tui Bird. As I am writing this he is busy making a racket in that Bottle-Brush Tree of his with our ginger cat again parked at the base of the tree looking up and scheming again. The final picture is the beginning of our new vegetable garden. The posts have gone in for the first of three 3.6 x 1.0 x0.5 metres raised vege beds in time for my famous bumper summer crop of: lettuce, spring onions, capsicums, and more tomatoes than you could poke a stick at.
And if you are wondering, I am a “mixed” gardener who will use both organic and synthetic fertilisers and sprays.
Behind what will be the raised beds will be the feature corner with citrus trees, annuals, some native shrubs and my dwarf Totara Tree at the back corner near the fence. I am planning to use quite of lot of natives in our garden as I love natives as well as doing my bit for Mr Tui Bird and his mates. Okay I will have my roses too but natives are the main theme here for the back yard.
- Can you find the Tui
- Found him yet?
- THERE HE IS, and yes my charmer of a Ginger Cat is sitting at the base of the tree scheming again
- First of the raised vege beds under construction
Going to be a busy Summer of 2012/2013 ahead
