Today I launched my website benross.co.nz marking my formal start to my campaign for Local Government Elections next year.
The site which can be accessed by normal computer and by smart phone or tablet will be my virtual home base for my campaign for a seat on the Papakura Local Board.
benross.co.nz will be run in tandem with BR:AKL – the blog through out the campaign and beyond. While benross.co.nz will be the home base for the campaign, BR:AKL will continue to provide the commentary, analysis, ideas, and proposals as it has done since its inception. BR:AKL will also provide the “in-depth” “stuff” while benross.co.nz will provide the material short sharp and snappy.
I look forward in contesting for a seat on Papakura Local Board; through the good, bad and ugly as democratic campaigns often bring out in people.
The reason why I am standing in next year’s local elections is that I have no faith in our current Council that is meant to lead Auckland (well it is; down a financial, social and economical black-hole) and as a result I am going to “walk the talk” and put my: leadership, ideas, skills, values, and beliefs to the voting public and basically await their verdict on who they want to lead them. That is lead the people, not “manage” the people. To manage the people in regards to Auckland Council and the Local Boards is to defy my number one and eight fundamentals:
- Strong but no interfering Governance: Meaning Council shows active and real leadership but does not interfere with the daily lives of residents and businesses
- Stay out of my way: I believe in the following strongly “Individual Freedom -> Individual Choice -> Individual Responsibility (oh and do not forget the consequences)” I am an adult who can make choices for myself (whether it was right or wrong), treat me as such rather than a child.
And so benross.co.nz is live. I put myself to the voting public for your verdict (vote) come next year’s Local Government Elections.
You can see what my fundamentals are for a Better Auckland HERE.
