Auckland Plan Launched and Away

Auckland Plan is GO – and even has a website (that is readable)   I was meant to report on this yesterday but was dealing with a rather crappy written article from the NZ Herald on the Manukau Station, as well as the National Party and the CRL. Auckland Transport Blog has already reported on this … Read more

Long Term Plan on Transport

Auckland Transport Blog Blogs on the Draft LTP – Transport

Since Cllr George Wood referred me to this particular blog, and Jon C of former AKT Blog sung its praises, I have always had time for Auckland Transport Blog and its material. And apart from one writer (who I won’t mention) I have also had time for the regular and guest writers of Josh Arbury’s (now former) Blog and what they publish.

Ok granted sometimes my comments over there are controversial per-se but then again my way of thinking is different to theirs so from time to time when I am not supporting a post over at Auckland Transport Blog, controversy and disagreements might pop up from time to time if I have posted a more “interesting” alternative. I hold no ill-feeling towards them and never could – these are great guys here advocating for a better Auckland something I admire. – Keep up the good work :)

This particular post I have linked about The Draft Long Term Plan – Transport Section back at Auckland Transport Blog is a reason why I have time for them – a nice straight forward post on a part of the Draft LTP which affects ALL OF AUCKLAND.

Again keep up the good work guys over there :D  We might not always agree but hey – democracy, opinions and respecting another’s even when we wholeheartedly disagree – right? :)

Making a harbour tunnel “stack up” – a Post from Auckland Transport Blog

An Alternative Idea with the Second Harbour Crossing Tunnel(s)?

I saw this as I was cruising through the Auckland Transport Blog this morning after work and it really struck my mind. I agree 110% with the author of this particular post – if Central Government is hell bent on building the second harbour crossing (which I support anyhow) – you might as well make the use of it as a multi-modal piece of infrastructure.

It is an idea – and if the author does not mind (I’ll email him) I’ll see if I can advocate it to the road barons of the National Party in an upcoming party conference. It is worth a shot – small as it might be.

Nice post Nick-R :D
