Next Phase Begins
Today marks the day that both the Unitary Plan starts the formal notification process and the Auckland Design Manual being launched.
Here are the front pages to sites:
The “Front Page” – has links to make your e-submission as well (very important)

The Unitary Plan including E-map
The Auckland Design Manual
You have from today until February 28, 2014 to make your formal submission to the Unitary Plan. An example of the paper submission copy looks like this:
With some guidance on how to make a submission here:
The E-Submission can be found here: http://www.aucklandcouncil.govt.nz/EN/planspoliciesprojects/plansstrategies/unitaryplan/Pages/makeasubmission.aspx
As mentioned in my “The Unitary Plan – What to Expect from September 30” Auckland Council and the New Zealand Planning Institute will be running expos and/or workshops to assist people in either interpreting the Unitary Plan or writing up a robust submission for the Commissioners. I highly recommend you attend these expos and workshops – I will be and apparently I am one of the few private citizens who “knows” the UP inside and out 😛
Of course hard copies can be found places like: libraries, Council Service Centres, Local Board Offices, and copies being delivered to Iwi as well.
I need not remind Auckland this is your chance – not the politicians to make your views, points and legitimate concerns on the Unitary Plan. In saying that the Commissioners will not be particularly interested in NIMBYism but will be interested in logic, evidence and reasoning to your support or opposition to the UP.
For now though – for me anyhow it is time to check the e-maps and see what changes have been made to areas in the South. Particularly as growth and investment is beginning to leave the Isthmus and head south (South Auckland – The Rising Jewel in Auckland’s Crown)
