22% and 40% growth respectively for heavy rail
Auckland Transport have released the monthly statistics and the monthly public transport patronage reports. Here is the Public Transport figures as of 31 January 2015:

Source: Auckland Transport
That is 41.7% growth for January (taking into account special events and most likely Block of Lines) while the Year To Date is 22.4% for rail. That is some significant growth with patronage on the rolling 12 month period now at 12,700,000 trips.
And who says people in Auckland do not use heavy rail nor should we be investing in it? I say the figures would say otherwise rather loudly!
The Northern Express which uses the North Shore Bus Way does very well as well and shows dedicated rapid transit systems do work (whether bus or rail). So it should assist with the Light Rail Transit case on the Isthmus, the North Western Busway, the City Rail Link, the Manukau South Link, Airport Rail from Onehunga, and Sky Train connecting Panmure to the Airport via Pakuranga, Botany and Manukau from 2025 (otherwise the South Eastern Busway which Auckland Transport is accelerating).
What makes the above news even better is this that helps make public transport even more accessible and efficient: SOME EXCITING PROJECTING PROJECTS COMING THROUGH FROM AUCKLAND TRANSPORT
