Parklets for Manukau City Centre

On Monday I will be giving a short presentation to the Otara-Papatoetoe Local Board as the next phase of establishing two parklets in Manukau City Centre.

Brief Recap

Last year an idea for parklets in Lot 59 (the home of the Manukau Transport Interchange) Manukau was presented to me on Twitter. From there I fleshed out the concept and ran it by first the Auckland Design Champion Ludo Campbell-Reid then the Otara-Papatoetoe Local Board earlier this year.

The presentation in the public forum on Monday formalises my request for the two parklets at the Manukau Transport Interchange site. The Local Board and the respective Auckland Transport division for the South support the concept and want to see it through to eventual operation (October).

I will update on Tuesday where the project heads next but yes I am quite excited with the parklets, the progress so far, and the end result which is not that far away.
