Finance and Performance Committee to Discuss (Accelerated) Transport Package

What to accelerate with the Proposed Transport Levy

The Finance and Performance Committee me on Thursday to discuss of all things what individual projects will be sped up thus funded out of the Transport Levy (otherwise known as the Accelerated Transport Package).

The Budget Committee earlier in the month resolved 15-7 to pass the Transport Targeted Rate (the Levy) in order to speed up some transport projects (like Transport Interchanges) while they (the Council) continue to negotiate with the Government on a Transport Accord (to align funding and build programs for all things transport).

The main Finance and Performance Committee Agenda can be seen HERE.

The Addendum Agenda containing the Accelerated Transport Package can be seen below:

I have not looked at the ATP list fully yet but I do hope the Council holds fast in the push for public transport projects to be sped up via the accord. Because right now the Government certainly isn’t on its part especially in willing to pay its part of The Iron Price: Message to Auckland Council on Transport Accord: NO!

More on The Iron Price, and the ATP list of projects later today as well as tomorrow.

And yes I know what the connotations are to the phrases The Iron Price and  The Gold Price. However, one does wonder if a bit of Shakespearian Tragedy could be brought into this saga hence the term The Iron (rail) Price.
