Keep tabs from time to time folks – it is worth it if you like to know
Also Davis Avenue completion is late again(?)
Auckland Transport have an easy to follow Projects and Road-works page on their website where you can keep yourself up to date on the latest happenings either in your area or Auckland wide. You can even subscribe to get updates from Auckland Transport sent to your inbox.

Scroll down a bit and we get to the South (Southern Auckland) Projects of which one project caught my attention, the new cycle ways coming our way down here:
Most of those projects I am aware of and keep tabs on a regular basis. The project though that got my attention (mainly because I have not seen it until last weekend :-P) was the Great South Road cycling facilities.
Yes I am a proponent of adequate and safe cycling facilities right across Auckland. So naturally I went to have a look and this is what you see:

The individual project links are:

All three projects are about to get under way either this month or next month.
It is good to see these projects get under way in the South as part of a larger program. In time it is hoped that Auckland will have a comprehensive and safe cycle network that might just entice me to bike when the kids get older.
Will be definitely be keeping tabs on this. Hopefully we might see a few more cycle-way projects in the South in the near future as the area grows.
Davis Avenue late again
January, April, May 20, who knows then. Those are the completion dates Auckland Transport has been touting for the Davis Avenue project in the Manukau City Centre. You can see the project here:

Umm AT we have a slight problem. I went down to Davis Avenue today and found that the road was still closed. To make things more interesting the contractors were installing a set of new traffic lights while upgrading another set. The road was still showing its foundation and had not been sealed over with its final asphalt coat. Furthermore the landscaping is not done and I believe the paths were not complete either. The only thing that seemed complete was the kerbs and the street lighting. I don’t quite think Davis Avenue was going to be open today thus we have another set back coming up to six months now.
I believe AT you might want to offer an explanation here because if Davis Avenue is taking six months longer to complete than scheduled then how will this translate when areas such as Ronwood Avenue and other areas in Auckland get their boulevard upgrades. I am not particular impressed with the delays and I highly doubt residents of the South and the businesses in Manukau will be impressed with this delay.
Tomorrow I am at a workshop about engagement processes and how it can be done better. Hopefully I might have something for you tomorrow afternoon š
