In this podcast I follow on from my “The Unitary Plan, the Recent Valuations” and drill down into Auckland Council’s Principal Transport Planner – Joshua Arbury testimony on aspects of the Compact City Model which calls for a 70:30 Brownfield:Greenfield urban development split. In drilling down into the Testimony to the Unitary Plan Hearings Panel earlier this week I look at:

  • Land Use
  • The Compact City Model versus the more liberal 60:40 split per the Unitary Plan
  • Job Centres and where they are located
  • Cross City Commuting compared to localised commuting owing to job centres verses residential centres and how it affects our transportation system
  • A prelude into our industrial complexes (flows into following podcast)
  • Issues around freight transportation as Auckland grows
  • Energy efficiency and greenhouse gas waste
