Area Plan Watered Down to Platitudes in Regards to Manukau City Centre
Today the Auckland Development Committee will be looking at the adoption of the final version of the Otara-Papatoetoe Area Plan which includes a “plan” for urban renewal in Manukau City Centre.
This podcast illustrates why the Committee should REJECT the Plan today and shelve it until September next year when the new Development Auckland CCO comes on stream. The podcast also calls Council out on their shortcomings for allowing the selling of Lot 59 land in Manukau which is where a Transit Orientated Development would have occurred to kick-start the urban renewal in Manukau City Centre as per Key Move 3 in the Area Plan. The walk through of a TOD alternative can be seen here: Walk Through: Manukau Interchange – An Alternative
