A reminder that the South Auckland Community Workshop on empowering communities is this evenings:

To help the workshop along we should all read the draft report which can be seen here:

While the theory in the draft is good we need some practicable examples to see if the Council is actually willing to do this community empowerment approach. Some ideas to test those waters could be:

1. The Two Parklets at the Manukau Interchange Site. Let this be a community led project including possibly running an urban design competition on what the Parklets could look like
2. Community leads and designs the Manukau City Centre Master Plan with Council officers lending a hand for advice

So lets see what tomorrow comes up with
