Manukau and addition of the Super Metropolitan Centre Zone my focus for today
Today (and all day) I will be at Town Hall along with other Unitary Plan submitters “mediating” on the Business Zones in general and the Metropolitan Centre business zone in the Proposed Auckland Unitary Plan. By mediating I mean informal free and frank discussions between submitters and Council planners on what we would like on a Unitary Plan topic before the formal Hearings later on in the year (in this case September).
The issues to be covered today are:
- D3 Introduction
- D3.1 General objectives and policies
- D3.3 Metropolitan Centre zone (objectives, policies and Metropolitan Centre zone column of the Activity Table)
While I will be mentioning D3.3 in passing today my main focus is on D3 and D3.1 as I will be trying to introduce the Super Metropolitan Centre Zone concept before the Hearings in September.
The Super Metropolitan Centre Zone concepts can be read here: Super Metropolitan Centre – A Redux

I won’t know the results of advocating for the zone until Council adopts recommendations for the final version of the Unitary Plan in about 12-15 months time.
