Southern Local Board Projects Up, Missing Manurewa’s

Orakei and Manurewa Local Boards Missing

Yesterday 19 of the 21 Local Boards posted their pressers highlighting local community projects that will get under way with the Long Term Plan going operative tomorrow.

I have posted the Southern area’s local projects and you can read them on the blog.

However, two Local Boards including one in the South are missing. Those two being Orakei and Manurewa Local Boards.

Reason?

Apparently they are not happy with the Long Term Plan which funds their Local Board Plans (where the local projects sit, were submitted on by the public, then fought for by the Local Boards to the Governing Body to be funded in the LTP) so both refused to put out pressers indicating what local projects for their local area are about to get under way thanks to the Long Term Plan.

I know the Long Term Plan was below par in a lot of respects and really does not earn the warm and fuzzies from me personally. But Angela Dalton and Desley Simpson (Chairs of those two Local Boards) refusing to put out a presser highlight what Local Board projects they and their community fought for is rather spiteful when the other 19 did.

I suppose we can always withdraw their Local Board – Local Plan funding if they are not particularly happy (if they ever will be).

Again while the Long Term Plan itself was not really there I am still thankful for what both Papakura and Otara-Papatoetoe Local Boards did get in advancing some projects long being sort after by the community. Thank you.
