From Councillor Ross Clow of Whau Ward:
Whau Councillor Ross Clow and Whau Local Board Chair Catherine Farmer say they’re thrilled Avondale and New Lynn have been identified as locations by Panuku Development Auckland to develop council-owned land.
Avondale has been identified within the new locations for Panuku to support development of council-owned land, with New Lynn among the existing locations. This means that Avondale will be given the same opportunities as New Lynn to help ensure that Auckland Council maximises the benefits of intensification.
“It is fantastic news for the Whau ward that these areas have been recognised for the potential they offer. The work to create high-quality, people-focused urban intensification will be greatly advanced by these initiatives. The benefits to locals, the west and wider Auckland will be considerable. This is an exciting and proud moment for the Whau,” says Councillor Clow.
“New Lynn has seen some great progress recently, including the new train station, progress on developing a Special Housing Area and the Brickworks at Lynn Mall, which opens Thursday 5 November. I’m looking forward to seeing an even better New Lynn, and for Avondale to receive some long-overdue investment,” says Chair Farmer.
…..ends…..
Great to see especially for New Lynn. I will have more on Panuku’s program for you next week 😀
