Commentary and community meetings continue as The Unitary Plan causes further debate from all sides. I am continuing my jet-setting around the city – although with a main focus closer to home in Southern Auckland and this is where I will be for the final weeks of this round of Unitary Plan feedback.
Please note that while the Unitary Plan feedback closes 31 May; BR:AKL will continue Unitary Plan commentary while TotaRim Consultancy Limited will continue to offer Unitary Plan services to wider Auckland.
These are my final rounds of engagement for this part of the Unitary Plan. It has been quite a journey since March 27 when I both started jet-setting around the city attending Unitary Plan community meetings, running Unitary Plan commentary, giving presentations, and now finalising my submission for the UP. Still got plenty of work to do as the Unitary Plan hits notification around September (at current speed) and all that will entail. But as I mentioned earlier; I will be carrying on my Unitary Plan work – albeit on a more “professional” basis now through TotaRim (which is now open for business).

Picked up one of these last night after the Alfriston Unitary Plan Community Meeting:
I have commented on the project before with my most recent being: “MAYOR SUPPORTS SOUTH EAST HIGHWAY” which also has the link to the information article here: “ROAD PLAN CONCERNS”
I will attend the public meeting and rather observe this time round, participate actively as I am affected by the project. The corridor if and when fully completed is five minutes away to the east of where I live and will cause rat-running down a main road I use to get to Papakura Town Centre and Rail Station, will possible spill on effects to my local road as some might use it as a bypass…
So a project that hits close to home both here in Papakura and in Manukau along Redoubt Road…
April has been a flat tact month (even with Easter and ANZAC Day in the mix) for BR:AKL with a new record set in visitors, page views, and ranking on the Open Parachute NZ Blog Rankings. Lets take a look:
| 55 | Ben Ross: Auckland | 3245 | 5639 |
Virtually a 100% jump on the March figures (compounded by me being in Australia at that time).
The Unitary Plan is sure generating feedback and reading as the extensive BR:AKL commentary continues with two highlights coming up this month: the May 2nd presentation to the Orakei Local Board on Special Character Zones, and the May 14 Auckland Plan Committee presentation – challenging the planning thinking behind Auckland as well as seeing Manukau as the second CBD.
Again a massive thank you to all the readers, the commenters, and the feedback via email and social media. Without you this blog would not be possible
To a very busy May ahead as the first round of Unitary Plan feedback draws to a close – at the end of the month
