Vector’s newest electric vehicle charger unveiled in South Auckland
Life is now a little easier for South Auckland’s electric vehicle owners and users.
Simon Mackenzie, chief executive of electricity supplier Vector, has launched the company’s latest dual-port electric vehicle standard charging station in Manukau.
It’s been installed at the Vodafone Events Centre in Great South Rd and takes the number of Vector electric car chargers in Auckland to 10.
Mackenzie says society is seeing a “convergence of transport and energy, and electric vehicles are part of the mix”.
“We’re committed to putting more charging stations around Auckland,” he says.
“This one [at the Vodafone Events Centre] is near the motorway and people can come here and charge.
“It’s important for us to provide these facilities for customers. We’re seeing a large uplift in the amount of electric vehicles being utilised.”
Great to see one in the South although location is a tad odd being at the Vodafone Events Centre which is located outside Manukau City Centre itself. Meaning unless you plan to walk to Lone Star further south the main mall and other commercial facilities are a 20 minute walk in the other direction. Doesn’t seem very central unlike Sylvia Park’s which is right next to the mall.
Ah well least we have an EV charging station.
