Getting the Plan right means is the Community with you
With Panuku Development Auckland now formally tasked with the Transform Manukau urban renewal program (see: #Manukau City Centre – The Transform – A Series. #4: The Green Light is Given) the challenge Panuku face is bringing the community with them.
I presented to the Auckland Development Committee when Panuku were present then on bringing the community along (and in the front seat) if the Transform Manukau program was going to fly (unlike Auckland Transport’s Manukau Bus Interchange which 67% of submitters did not approve of).

So far having read the initial material for Transform Manukau Panuku are following the above ten points pretty well (and better than others in the wider Council family).
Mid year Panuku come back with the Transform Manukau Master Plan (or Framework Plan) while next month they present a budget to get the first stage off the ground.
While Manukau is on the good path with planning ask yourself how other plans are going. Are they following the ten points above or have the wheels fallen off the trolley somewhat like the Unitary Plan?
Because community buy in is critical!
