Lakewood Plaza 80% Sold. Demonstrates #TransformManukau Potential

Lakewood Plaza shows pent up demand for good living in Manukau City Centre

You could take this as the first but crucial step in the Transform Manukau urban renewal program. That is confidence in apartments in a Metropolitan Centre with the Lakewood Plaza 80% sold and construction due to start in August and done by the end 2017.

Affordable Auckland Housing Isn’t Pipe Dream

Owning a brand new place to live in Auckland for under half a million dollars may sound like a fantasy in 2016, but it’s not.

As the Auckland housing market once again begins to heat up, a new development aims to buck the trend by offering affordable Auckland living.

The Lakewood Plaza apartment complex on Redoubt Road is currently under construction in Manukau. Designed to set a new benchmark in fully integrated city living, it’s nestled close to Manukau Central City with easy motorway access, train stations and one of Auckland’s top university’s, AUT.

With apartments starting at $499,000, it will cater to those who want to be near the action of Auckland’s CBD but don’t want to fork out for the typical cost.

“This is density done well,” says Ray White Real Estate Agent Steve King. “We’re passionate about making Auckland housing more accessible to everyone, and we really want to prove with developments like Lakewood Plaza that it doesn’t have to come with a trade-off in comfort.”

“80 percent of the apartments have been sold already” adds King. “With massive growth forecasted for Manukau, and the fact purchasing off-plan allows first time home buyers more time to save prior to settlement, we’re not surprised there is a lot of demand in this area”.

Lakewood Plaza is designed by award-winning architects Archimedia so all owners have membership to the onsite health club and facilities which includes a gym, swimming pool, beauty salon and restaurant.

“This is the solution to Auckland’s housing shortage,” says King. “Lakewood Plaza makes Auckland living a breeze in a way that’s far more affordable than anything else out there.”

“Well-designed and built medium density housing can take some of the heat out of the Auckland housing market and reduce commuting time for those who live and work centrally. That’s good for them, our economy, and the environment. Everyone wins,” says King.

Now for Paunku Development Auckland to make Manukau Station Road a bit more humane for people to walk and cycle along so the Lakewood Plaza residents can access the mall and Manukau Rail Station with ease.

In any-case if Lakewood is anything to go by the future of Manukau is going to look good.
