The Waikato Municipal Spatial Code Book: A Test with AI and Planning

Prototype Test using Cities Skylines 2 creation gives interesting results thus far

What happens when I let Notebook LLM design me a Planning Code manual using inputs from my Cities Skylines 2 creations? Combined with the AI renders from Waikato (CS2 version) and giving it no Planning framework context like the RMA, Land Transport Act, and the Building Act (probably a good thing given all three of those pieces of NZ legislation are a hot mess of complexity giving even the AI a twitching eyebrow) the AI wasn’t that bad in creating this Spatial Code book from the information available.

Still for a prototype-class test the LLM did a reasonable job in creating a prototype of a Combined Plan that in the New Zealand context would include the Planning Laws, the Transport Laws, and Building Code. Refinement needs to be done naturally but the section on the elevated railway above an existing road gives food for thought for Airport to Botany Rapid Transit as metro rail!

Waikato, for which is being used as the testbed for the LLM generated planning guides
