And You Can See Everyone Else Too!
While I was in Tauranga the Auckland Council finally released all our submissions in the first round of the Unitary Plan Feedback (that closed May 31).
Everyone that submitted in (unless otherwise stated) can now see their and others feedback – including mine at 105 pages and at 15.7mb in size.
From Auckland Council:
Informal feedback now online
Feedback received during the informal engagement phase for Auckland’s draft Unitary Plan is now online.
An overview outlining the key issues and topics that were the focus of public feedback is also up on Auckland Council’s website.
The 22,000 pieces of feedback can be searched by surname, organisation or using the ID number submitters received from council in an acknowledgement letter.
Penny Pirrit, manager of regional and local planning at Auckland Council, says the feedback has been processed, coded and analysed by council planners to identify key issues.
“Handwritten comments, coding and notes are visible on the forms – these represent how the team processed the feedback.
“The feedback has then been grouped to find out what the common areas of concerns and support are so they can be discussed at the Councillors and local board workshops and work can be done to make changes.
“For privacy reasons we have also removed all contact details and any personal information people may have provided, so only names or organisations will remain visible on the form,” she said.
Those who filled out a proforma (the same feedback form signed and submitted individually by a number of people) will find their form grouped with all others who provided feedback on the same or similar form, rather than individually.
Where submitters have specifically asked for their feedback to be withheld for privacy reasons, it has not been published.
The informal feedback overview and search tool can be found at www.aucklandcouncil.govt.nz/unitaryplan
—–Ends—–
One good thing about this is that if I so choose, I can explore other people’s Unitary Plan feedback and see what they commented on. This is useful for two reasons:
- Own research into prevailing Unitary Plan feedback and concerns. This can be used for framing the next round of submissions or solution finding to some of the more prominent issues cropping up
- Catching out grandstanding Councillors, Local Board Members and various Associations from telling errr porkies when the feedback clearly states something else.
You can see a brief overview of our feedback below
And my own feedback codified and commented on accordingly
The next phase for the Unitary Plan this end is continuing to advocate for the Manukau Super Metropolitan Centre and see that Southern Auckland is not disadvantaged in the next draft version of the Unitary Plan that will come out soon for formal notification.
