A quick update on Airport to Botany (A2B) Rapid Transit from Auckland Transport after I filed a Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act request (LGOIMA) seeking some updates (as a good Geographer does).

This is the latest on A2B from Auckland Transport:

We refer to your request received via twitter on 4 September 2018. Currently Auckland Transport has two business cases for the Airport To Botany Rapid Transit project. The first business case will cover the short-term Airport Access work, to be delivered by 2021, this includes the proposed new bus services to the airport, and the Puhinui interchange upgrade. This business case should be completed by the end of 2018 / early 2019.

The business case for work to be completed post 2021, which is the Airport to Botany Rapid Transit business case, is expected to be completed by the middle of 2019.

The first round of public engagement on the projects will commence at the end of 2018 / early 2019. –ends—

  • Two business cases and each one now specific (they were a single case before)
  • Public Consultation now confirmed
