AT will be implementing minor road improvements in Auckland to make it a safer and better place to live for all Aucklanders
As part of the Minor Improvements program, Auckland Transport plans to convert 60km of painted cycle lanes into protected cycle lanes – using what is known as Tim Tams (concrete separators that look like Tim Tams).
From Auckland Transport:
Cavendish Drive, Mankuau | To make it safer and easier to cycle along Cavendish Drive, Auckland Transport will be installing physical separation between the vehicle lanes and the existing painted cycle lanes on Cavendish Drive from State Highway 20 to Lambie Drive. The separators will be 300mm wide, 150mm high raised concrete islands positioned on the existing cycle lane white line. Gaps will be left for existing property accesses and side road intersections. We will not make any changes to access or parking. These changes will improve the safety and the experience for cyclists on Cavendish Drive by creating a physical barrier between motor vehicles and people on bikes. |

There are a few more holes to plug including the rest of Cavendish Drive to the Great South Road and the Great South Road especially.
Good to see Auckland Transport getting on with this stuff and I believe there is more including Ronwood Avenue being planned for as well.
Bit by bit the cycling network gets more added to it!
Well done Auckland Transport!
