Quick Reply To “The geometry of urban labour markets”

Index to Talking Auckland posts covering wider commuting trending in Auckland

I read Peter Nunn’s piece on ‘The Geometry of urban labour markets’ over at Transport Blog and I thought two things:

  1. Interesting analysis on that geometry which I arguably do not dispute as Auckland does follow a Composite Model in its urban growth and foot print
  2. Still seems a pro-City Centre bent or bias in there and underplays the significance of commuting patterns in Southern Auckland and the North Shore

And so rather than write a long-winded reply I am reposting links to my “Auckland Commuting Journey Series” that looked at wider commuting patterns across Auckland.

The Spatial Priorities I mention in the final of the series I will be looking at again once the draft Long Term Plan hits consultation at the end of next week. It will be interesting to see whether Council developed the idea further and is taking it to consultation with the public, or whether the Mayor shuffled the idea off quietly into dust collecting shelves.
